Troubleshooting Email problems

Here are some basic steps for troubleshoting email problems.

1. Send an email to yourself. If it comes back it means that everything is working.

2. Login to your webmail account. (http://webmail.yourdomain.com) If you can login and send and receive email here then the server is up and running.

3. Check to see if you can browse the internet. (this will verify your personal internet connection)
4. Make sure this email address was correctly set up in your WebControl panel.

5. Check to see if the outgoing server is correct.

6. change it to mail.yourdomain.com or the IP address of your server if the domain doesn't resolve yet.

7. Make sure username (or account name) is everything before the @ in the email address and nothing else. The username for the email address someone@yourdomain would be 'someone@yourdomain.com'.

8. Check to make sure you are using the correct password. Log into your WebControl Panel and change it to something you can remember if possible.
